3M PROJECT DIAGRAMS

The 3M diagrams shows the development of the building based on the macro , meso and micro influence on the building.

STRUCTURAL DIAGRAMS

Post 3.1, I started to think about the possible structural strategy for the building. All of these was based from the case studies and precedents that we have done earlier in the year that might be useful for my building.

MICRO

MOMENTS / EXCHANGES/MATERIALITY

This strategy focuses the usage of concrete beam and column as the main supporting structure. The building created the push and pull effect from the additions to the exterior of the building

Using steel frames, I am able to shape the building into various forms more freely as oppose to concrete

For the subsequent iteration, I tried combining the usage of concrete and steel frames by dividing the building into parts.

This strategy focuses on using concrete supporting wall on the exterior and having the inside entirely supported using steel frames with the walls acting as bracing

On the exterior wall, I sought to create a sitting area on the window as a personal space away from the busy building

Openings on the second floor creates balconies allowing connection from the ground floor to the first floor.

Similar to the pods on the skin of the building, I wanted to create openings near the main staircase. It creates a connection to the atrium and also allows light in

Timber beams span in between the classroom and the library (not shown) creating frames on top of the minor atrium

From the feedback received, I started to think and reflect about the changes I can do to enrich the building

The northern part of the site needs to be developed i.e. seating areas / parking

Possible entry way and pathways created on the site

Southern part ofthe building that faces the main road
